ASSESSMENT AND CURRICULUM MANAGEMENT UNIT
The role of the Assessment and Curriculum Management Unit (ACMU) is to ensure the Western Australia Police Academy, as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), complies with the National Training Framework.
DETECTIVE TRAINING SCHOOL
The Detective Training School (DTS) is responsible for delivering Professional Investigation Training and Development Program to recruits and serving police officers. This ensures investigations are professional, ethical and effective by enhancing the skills, knowledge and abilities of all those involved in the investigative process.

TRANSITIONAL TRAINING TEAM
The Transitional Training Team is positioned under the Head of Faculty, Professional Education & Learning Unit and is responsible for managing accelerated training courses for former officers of WA Police, officers from other Australian jurisdictions and international police agencies.

eLEARNING UNIT
The eLearning Unit is staffed of both police officers and police staff and is responsible for the management of four streams including training to cadets, recruits and transitional trainees, training project developments, distance learning and eLearning.

FOUNDATION TRAINING UNIT
The Foundation Training Unit (FTU) is responsible for delivering training to recruits and transitional training officers. The staff in this unit form several specialist teams who instruct classroom theory and practical application in the subjects of Legal, Procedural, Briefcase and Scenario Training.
OPERATIONAL SAFETY & TACTICS TRAINING UNIT
The Operational Safety and Tactics Training Unit (OSTTU) forms part of the Operational Skills Training Faculty located within the Western Australia Police Academy. OSTTU is responsible for all Critical Use of Force Skills and Operational Safety training within Western Australia Police.
ORGANISATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY UNIT
The Organisational Psychology Unit (OPU) forms part of the Police Recruiting Branch located within the Western Australian Police Academy. It provides psychological assessment of police cadets, recruits, transitional trainees and internal police applicants for specialist groups.
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATON & LEARNING UNIT
The Professional Education and Learning Unit (PELU) is about building the capabilities and capacities of our people. PELU’s role is to provide a variety of learning and educational opportunities to all Western Australia Police employees for personal and professional development.
PHYSICAL TRAINING UNIT
The Physical Training Unit (PTU) is devoted to recruit physical training. The goal of physical training is to shape a positive health and fitness philosophy among recruits, underpinned by the notion that personal health and fitness is the responsibility of the individual.

POLICE STAFF TRAINING UNIT
The Police Staff Training Unit is responsible for training police staff (public servants) in Information Technology and also Professional Development courses.
PROBATIONER DEVELOPMENT UNIT
The Probationer Development Unit is made of officers with vast experience of policing in Western Australia who oversee the development of probationary constables by monitoring theprogression of their on the job training.
POLICE RECRUITING BRANCH
The Police Recruiting Branch is responsible for the recruitment of quality police. To meet the demand Police Recruiting Branch has developed new recruiting initiatives to compliment a recruiting strategy that is based upon marketing in as many mediums and levels as possible.
TRAINING ADMINISTRATION UNIT
The Recruit Management Unit is responsible for overall supervision of recruits throughout the duration of the twenty-eight week recruit training program.
TRAFFIC TRAINING UNIT
Traffic Training Unit is responsible for delivering driver and rider training to recruits and operational police officers. Training is delivered utilising Holden Commodore sedans, Ford Falcon utilities and Honda motorcycles and several training venues are utilised in the Perth metropolitan area.
